Millie The Hut — Shepherd's Hut Glamping in the Welsh Marches
Millie The Hut, Presteigne, Herefordshire.
Down a leafy lane, where steam trains once ran, across a Victorian railway bridge that takes you from Wales to England, you'll find a meadow where sheep graze, and a traditional-style Shepherds Hut and Shack. On sunny days, the meadow is bathed in light from dawn to dusk, and the gin-clear Hindwell Brook that bounds it flashes silver. Whatever the weather, after dark is a special time to be here, when the log burner in the hut, the firepit by the stream and the lamps and candles in the Shack cast a magical golden glow.

What Our Guests Say
Thank you for our stay, it was everything we needed, Millie was perfect.
We had a lovely time and couldn't fault a single thing about it, we would have stayed much longer if we could!
We had a fabulous stay, thank you so much.
This was the first time we had stayed in a place like this and we weren't sure whether it would be our cup of tea. How wrong we were. Paul was brilliant pre-visit, sending us several emails about our stay. His directions were excellent and both he and his wife were there to meet us and settle us in to the hut. Perfect hosts. We were delighted with its location, sitting as it does in its own field next to a beautiful stream. The Hut is well proportioned and well equipped with everything you need. We really appreciated the welcome pack (especially the fantastic orange-yolk eggs and local cider!) Adjacent to the hut is a lovely 'Shack' with fire pit etc. It's really quiet, just the sound of running water and bird song and as evening comes on the birds are replaced by numerous bats skimming over the stream. We were really pleased with Presteigne which is a short walk away. It has several pubs, restaurants and shops, everything we needed. The countryside round about is also ridiculously lovely and we did a great walk into the hills, with fantastic views over Wales and Herefordshire. We'll certainly come again.
Magical stay at Millie's. Couldn't fault it - Paul and Glenys really have thought of everything. From the fresh meadow flowers in a jug to the beautiful scented bathroom products to the selection of 6 different teabags in the kitchen - just delightful. Not forgetting the generous hamper - all gluten free to accommodate my coeliac husband! 10/10 for attention to detail. It never feels cramped with 'The Shack' adjacent - the most romantic restaurant table for 2 ever - and the firepit by the river, doubling as an amazing spot to meditate at dawn! Lovely, friendly owners too. Ten out of ten!
We had a wonderful long weekend at Millie the Hut. It is in a beautiful, quiet spot. We loved cooking in the outside area on the BBQ and also enjoyed a fire whilst sat by the brook at night. We did some lovely local walks, so no need to use the car once you arrive. There was also a lovely welcome from our hosts and a very generous welcome pack. We could not fault our stay and hope to return again.
Amazing stay, such a wonderful, comfortable and peaceful place you have here. Thank you for the birthday wishes, drinks, and the bunting, the level of service from you both has been above and beyond. Holly and I have already been discussing our next visit here, which will be a longer one. Such a lovely corner of peace and beauty is tough to find these days and a stay there has made a real difference to us both.
Thank you so much for the best stay in Millie. We have loved it and really needed the peaceful break. We will be sure to tell all our family and friends about this beautiful place!
I'd had my eye on a stay at Millie the Hut for a while, and our winter weekend here certainly lived up to expectations. We've stayed in a few shepherd's huts before, but Millie was by far the most comfortable and well equipped. The outside space was gorgeous - totally useable even in winter - and the sparkling clear brook was glorious. We're already thinking about when we can return, and fall asleep to the sound of the water burbling and the tawny owls hooting. Thank you Paul and Glenys for being so welcoming, friendly and helpful!
Thank you for letting us spend the weekend here, it is an incredible little corner of the world. I am pleased you like him — 'him' being a lovely little Lewis Chess Man-style figure — as Millie inspired me to give wood carving a go and as that was my first attempt I thought it only right I leave him there to watch over the place until we return!
We had a lovely weekend at Millie the Hut. Paul and Glenys were wonderful hosts. They were very helpful with suggestions of activities around the area and the welcome folder details were all very much appreciated. The location itself is exquisite, as it's very quiet and with wonderful natural views all around. The firepit and blankets provided were a lovely touch as we spent both nights outside enjoying the fire and stargazing. Ten out of ten.
